Art is intimately human. It crosses cultural boundaries and
transcends time.
For the past 10 years, I have worked as an archaeologist. My most
poignant moments in this career are related to art. Wandering the
remote corners of western Colorado and happening upon some
rock art high on a canyon wall. Geometric and stylistic animal designs.
Or
Sketching a prehistoric site and imagining what it looked like before the changes time brings.
I work mainly with acrylics. I find that they are very versatile. I also enjoy working digitally
for the same reasons. I am not limited to these mediums and often challenge myself to
explore new techniques and new materials. I love the challenge that art presents.
My art is a synthesis of past and present, the real and unreal. To me, my art is emotional,
spiritual, and full of meaning. I pour myself into my art. My brush strokes aim to create a
connection with the past mixed with elements of the speculative.
